Rumours are rife that more smartphones are expected to sport 200MP cameras in 2026. Reports have revealed that upcoming devices such as the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, Find X9s, and Vivo X300 Ultra are already rumoured to pack dual 200MP cameras. A new Weibo post by reliable tipster Digital Chat Station now suggests that the OnePlus 16 may also feature a 200MP primary camera.
OnePlus 16 may borrow camera hardware from Find N6
According to the tipster, upcoming OnePlus smartphones launching in 2026 will feature a 200MP camera. He also predicted that the OnePlus 16 may arrive with a 200MP sensor as its main camera.
The leakster further claimed that Oppo’s Find N-series foldables follow a camera strategy similar to OnePlus’ annual flagship upgrades. To recall, the Oppo Find N6 and OnePlus 15 are said to share the same Sony LYT-700 50MP primary camera.
Both devices are also tipped to feature the same Samsung JN5 50MP periscope telephoto camera. However, they differ in the ultra-wide department, with OnePlus offering a 50MP sensor, while the Find N5 reportedly uses an 8MP sensor.
Based on this pattern, it is likely that the OnePlus 16 may inherit some of its camera hardware from the Oppo Find N6, which is rumoured to launch in China in January 2026. A recent leak claims that the Find N6’s rear camera setup will include two 50MP sensors along with a 200MP camera.
The addition of a 200MP camera could be a welcome upgrade for OnePlus enthusiasts who feel that the OnePlus 15 did not bring major camera improvements over the OnePlus 13.
OnePlus 16 launch timeframe (expected)
At present, other details about the OnePlus 16 remain under wraps. However, it is expected to be among the early smartphones powered by the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. Considering that the OnePlus 15 debuted in China in October and reached global markets in November, the OnePlus 16 is likely to follow a similar launch timeline next year.
