OnePlus Nord 5 launch impending, here’s how much it could cost

In the ever-expanding galaxy of mid-range smartphones, OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next champion. The OnePlus Nord 5 is scheduled to land on July 8 in India, and while official details are still under wraps, leaks and insider chatter have already painted a near-complete picture.

If these whispers are to be believed, we’re looking at a phone that takes everything the Nord line of smartphones has stood for – value, performance, flair – and gives it a sleek, grown-up refresh. And yes, the price is expected to stay south of Rs 30,000.

OnePlus Nord 5: Everything known so far

Let’s start with the performance. The OnePlus Nord 5 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 – a significant upgrade over the Nord 4’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. It’s a bold move that puts the Nord 5 dangerously close to flagship territory, with better thermal efficiency and enough muscle to handle demanding games, multitasking, and future-proof features.

Perhaps the most talked-about rumour, though, is the massive 6,800-7,000mAh battery. If true, it would make the Nord 5 one of the few mainstream smartphones with such a colossal power reserve, perfect for content bingers, frequent travellers, and forgetful chargers alike. And with wired fast charging (wattage unknown), it won’t just last long, it’ll refuel quickly too.

On the visual front, the Nord 5 is said to sport a flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. The size is likely to hover around the 6.74-inch mark, similar to the Nord 4, though a slight bump isn’t off the table.

Design-wise, OnePlus is leaning into restraint. Leaked renders suggest a departure from the horizontal camera bar and bold colourways of the Nord 4. Instead, expect a pill-shaped vertical camera module and toned-down finishes like off-white and pale blue.

The materials may follow suit – glass back, plastic frame. That’s a step back from the Nord 4’s metal frame, but it could help balance the device’s weight and pricing.

As for the camera system, don’t expect a revolution. Leaks suggest the Nord 5 will retain the 50MP primary sensor, 8MP ultrawide, and 16MP front camera setup seen on the Nord 4. The real improvement could lie in software enhancements with smarter image processing, improved low-light performance, and tighter HDR algorithms.

OnePlus Nord 5 expected price

All signs point to a sub-Rs 30,000 price tag for the base variant of the OnePlus Nord 5. For context, the Nord 3 launched at Rs 33,999 and the Nord 4 dropped to Rs 29,999. If OnePlus continues this trajectory, the Nord 5 could be the company’s strongest value proposition yet, especially when you factor in the flagship-level chipset and that behemoth battery.

With the launch date locked in and the rumour mill at full tilt, the only thing left now is the official reveal.
