No, OnePlus is not shutting down; here’s the truth

Rumours travel fast online, especially when they involve a popular smartphone brand and a market as competitive as India. Since yesterday, posts began circulating on social media that suggested OnePlus was preparing to shut down operations in India and other regions. But worry not, those claims have now been firmly dismissed by the company.

OnePlus has clarified that it is not exiting India and that its business in the country is continuing as normal. The brand said the reports were unverified and inaccurate, urging users to rely only on official communication.

OnePlus responds to the false rumours

The speculation picked up after a report by AndroidHeadlines triggered concern among users and fans, many of whom took to social platforms to question the brand’s future in India. OnePlus moved quickly to address the chatter, stating that its operations remain fully active.

It has been clarified that OnePlus smartphone sales are ongoing, service centres are functioning, and, as per the company, there have been no changes to its teams or launch plans. Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, posted on X to calm concerns, saying that OnePlus India is “operating as usual and will continue to do so”.

Why these rumours are surfacing

Talk of OnePlus leaving India is not new, and it probably reflects broader shifts in the smartphone industry rather than any single brand’s plans. The global phone market has slowed, competition has intensified, and companies are reworking their structures to stay efficient.

OnePlus’ close operational alignment with Oppo, including shared research and manufacturing resources since 2021, has repeatedly fuelled speculation about the brand losing its independence.

Similar assumptions have followed Realme as it restructures its relationship with Oppo. These changes, however, are about consolidation and cost control, not market exits.

India remains a key market for smartphone brands, and sudden exit rumours tend to spark anxiety among users. This time, OnePlus chose to shut down the noise early, reminding customers that until a company confirms something officially, it is just a rumour.

The truth here is that OnePlus is staying put, and business in India continues as usual. OnePlus fans and users need not worry. The “Never Settle” mantra is alive and well.
