OnePlus Pad 2 Pro gives us the big tablet energy we needed

Android tablets have always had an identity problem. They’re often caught somewhere between being oversized phones and undercooked laptop replacements. Useful, sure, but rarely exciting. That’s why when OnePlus announced the Pad 2 Pro, there was palpable excitement amongst tech-lovers as the first-generation OnePlus Pad Pro was a hit. With its second-gen Pro slate, OnePlus seems to have gone all-in, on both ambition and scale.

Launched in China, the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro brings with it a huge 13.2-inch display, bleeding-edge internals, and a sleek form factor. Whether you’re sketching, gaming, editing, or just binge-watching House of the Dragon reruns in Dolby Vision, this device seems purpose-built for people who want more from a tablet than just screen real estate. Let’s delve into everything you must know about OnePlus’ latest flagship tablet.

OnePlus Pad 2 Pro: Everything you need to know

At the heart of the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro is a massive 13.2-inch LCD display with a crisp 3.4K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. It doesn’t use OLED, but with 900 nits of peak brightness, a 315 PPI pixel density, and an 89.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio, it delivers rich visuals that punch above its weight class. Whether you’re watching high-res content or dragging a stylus across a canvas, the screen holds its own.

Powering the experience is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip – a performance-leaning SoC that’s built for heavy lifting. It’s backed by up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, meaning it’s just as comfortable running a 4K edit timeline as it is multitasking across games, messaging apps, and creative tools.

OnePlus has also built in an enormous 34,857mm² vapour chamber cooling system that’s larger than what most gaming laptops offer! The Pad 2 Pro runs Android 15-based ColorOS 15, and while the UI is clearly refined for large-screen use. There’s also a healthy dose of AI integration baked in too.

Battery life shouldn’t be a concern. The device is equipped with a gargantuan 12,140mAh battery, paired with 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. OnePlus claims you can power through an entire day on a single charge, and when you do need to top up, it won’t leave you hanging for long.

The tablet also supports gaming at 2.1K resolution at up to 120fps for select titles, a nod to the growing audience of mobile-first gamers and streamers.
