Samsung is gearing up to unveil the Galaxy S26 series on February 25. The South Korean brand had introduced the OneUI 8 last September. The latest incremental version and fifth beta of OneUI 8.5 for eligible devices is out today. Additionally, it is now officially teased to arrive at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. OneUI 8.5 will be based on Android 16 QPR2.
OneUI 8.5 stable version could arrive next week
Samsung shared a teaser video on its YouTube handle that says ‘The new OneUI is coming’. It shows four core Galaxy apps – messages, wallet, camera, and gaming hub turn into animated characters. This suggests that the stable version of the OneUI 8.5 update could indeed arrive at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is also expected to ship with OneUI 8.5 version of the box. It should then release to the company’s older eligible models.
Samsung hasn’t released the full changelog of the OneUI 8.5 but it is said to come with polished UI, deeper customisation, and minor refinements. The software version is expected to come with smooth animations, refreshed quick panel and notifications, improved gestures, more lock screen customisations, and more ways to tweak themes.

Since the version will be based on Android 16 QPR2, it will utilise Google’s background performance, privacy, and battery efficiency.
Meanwhile, Samsung confirmed the introduction of the new Bixby in OneUI 8.5. It now supports natural language interactions instead of using exact commands. We should learn more details about OneUI 8.5’s stable rollout next week.
