Poco F7 5G lands in India with a monster battery and flagship-grade ambitions

The Poco F7 5G isn’t subtle. It’s a spec monster, a performance beast, and it knows it. From a massive 7,550mAh battery to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, Poco has packed this device with enough muscle to rival flagships nearly double its price. It doesn’t bother with minimalist branding or curved-glass theatrics. Instead, it doubles down on speed, endurance, and durability.

It’s Poco playing to its strengths – aggressive specs, aggressive pricing, and a no-nonsense pitch to power users who just want their phone to keep up, and then some. Launched in India with monster specs, the Poco F7 5G packs quite the punch. Here’s everything you need to know about Poco’s latest drop.

Poco F7 5G: Everything you need to know

The Poco F7 5G is built to feel like it can take a hit, both literally and figuratively. The aluminium frame paired with a glass back gives it a solid, premium hand feel without leaning into unnecessary gloss. At 7.98mm thick and 222g, it’s not exactly light, but the proportions should balance well for a device that’s built to go the distance.

The front houses a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel (1280 x 2772 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a staggering 3,200 nits peak brightness – one of the brightest displays in the segment. Add Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for protection and 2,560Hz instantaneous touch sampling, and you’ve got a screen that’s not only vibrant but also exceptionally responsive.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, Qualcomm’s latest upper-midrange processor built on a 4nm process. It’s paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage, making it ready to handle multitasking, gaming, and demanding workloads with ease. Thermal performance gets a boost from Poco’s 3D IceLoop system and a 6,000mm² vapour chamber, backed by AI-driven temperature regulation, which is a useful detail for mobile gamers.

Software-wise, the Poco F7 5G ships with HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15, and includes long-term support. You get four years of major Android updates and six years of security patches. The UI is layered with AI smarts, including Google Gemini, Circle to Search, AI Notes, AI Interpreter, AI Image Expansion, and AI Image Enhancement.

In terms of cameras, the setup is straightforward. You get a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary sensor, joined by an 8MP ultrawide at the back. Up front is a 20MP selfie camera. The hardware doesn’t scream flagship photography, but for a phone focused on performance, this feels intentional.

Audio is handled by a dual stereo speaker system, and you get the convenience of an in-display fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options are equally future-ready. They include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, NFC, and USB-C.

And then there’s the battery. The Indian variant of the Poco F7 5G comes with a massive 7,550mAh cell, backed by 90W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. That means you’re not just getting through a day, you’re cruising into the second one without breaking a sweat. Interestingly, the global version houses a smaller 6,500mAh battery, making the Indian model even more appealing for power users.

Poco’s dust- and water-resistance claims are unusually bold for this category. The F7 5G is certified with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, which, in theory, means it can handle everything from dust storms to high-pressure water jets. Whether anyone needs that in daily life is another question, but as far as durability credentials go, this one’s stacking the deck.

Poco F7 5G: Price and availability

The Poco F7 5G is priced at Rs 31,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model and Rs 33,999 for the 12GB + 512GB variant. Very aggressive pricing, however, if you are scouring the market for alternatives, you can check out the Realme GT 7T or the OnePlus Nord 4.

The POCO F7 5G goes on sale in India via select e-commerce websites from July 1 and will be available in Cyber Silver Edition, Frost White, and Phantom Black colourways. If you’re the kind of user who prioritises raw performance, battery life, and feature-per-rupee ratio over camera finesse or aesthetic minimalism, this is exactly the kind of phone that makes sense.
