The Poco M8 5G is officially launching soon, and ahead of that date, we’re getting a pretty good look at what to expect from its design.
The big selling point here seems to be just how slim this handset is going to be. Poco has confirmed that the M8 5G will measure just 7.35mm thick, which is quite thin for a phone in the budget segment. It’ll weigh around 178 grams too, and the company is rather proudly calling it the “slimmest and lightest” smartphone in its category.
Thin is in, apparently
Design-wise, the teaser images show a phone with a curved frame. The rear panel appears to be divided into multiple sections, each different textures and slightly varying shades of the same colour.
There’s also a slightly protruding camera module on the back, shaped like a squircle, which houses a reportedly 50MP AI camera setup. It’s a triple camera arrangement paired with an LED flash.
The power button and volume controls sit on the right side of the frame, while the left side is apparently being left clean. Upfront we can see a curved display.
Now, most of the technical specifications are still being kept under wraps. That said, rumours suggest the M8 5G could pack a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

There’s also talk of a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and brightness that could hit 3,200 nits at peak. A 5,520mAh battery is reportedly in the cards as well.
The Poco M8 5G is set to launch at 12 PM IST on January 8. Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet. But given the M series’ history, expect this one to be fairly easy on your wallet.
