Poco has a couple of new phones lined up for India. The brand is said to be working on the Poco M8 and Poco X8 series of mid-range phones. A new development shows that the launch of the Poco X8 series is inching closer, as it has now bagged an important certification.
Poco X8 Pro BIS certified in India
BIS is an important certification that new phones need to obtain before they launch in the Indian market. The above image shows that the Poco X8 Pro has cleared this requirement, confirming that its India debut is getting closer.
Although the phone’s name is not explicitly mentioned, reports claim that the BIS-listed model number 2511FPC34I belongs to the Poco X8 Pro’s Indian variant. Its global version, bearing model number 2511FPC34G, has already passed EEC (Europe) and SGS certification.
Redmi Turbo 5 rebranding
The Poco X8 Pro’s full specifications are not known yet, but it is widely expected to be a rebranded version of the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5, which is set to launch in China soon. The device is rumoured to feature a 6.67-inch OLED LTPS screen with 1.5K resolution and the upcoming Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is tipped to include an 8,000mAh battery with 100W charging, a metal middle frame, and an IP68/69-rated body. The Indian edition of the X8 Pro may feature similar specifications, while the global variant could pack a smaller 6,500mAh battery.
Poco M8 may launch before the Poco X8 series
According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the Poco M8 5G and Poco M8 Pro 5G are scheduled to launch in January 2026 in India. He added that the Poco X8 series’ India arrival is “still months away,” suggesting it may debut a few weeks after the M8 lineup.
