Back in May, Meta unveiled the Ray-Ban smart glasses in India. Now, the brand is back with the second-generation offering, developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, a global eyewear company. The AI-driven smart glasses were introduced globally in September, and have now reached the Indian market.
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) AI glasses: Specs and features
In terms of design, the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) AI glasses look very similar to the first generation. There’s a 12MP camera placed on one side, and an LED light on the other that glows while recording. Speaking of recording, the new edition can capture 3K Ultra HD videos at 30fps.
The new glasses also support videography features such as hyperlapse and slow motion, which will be added through a software update. Photos are captured in the same 3K resolution as the previous model.
The AI smart glasses come with a Conversation Focus feature that relies on open-ear speakers to enhance the voice of the person users are speaking to. Additionally, the device has a five-microphone system that offers improved clarity during calls, thanks to enhanced noise reduction.
Among the highlights of the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) AI glasses is the upgraded battery life, which now lasts up to eight hours on a single charge. They also support fast charging, allowing the battery to reach up to 50 per cent in just 20 minutes.

Since it is a Meta product, it integrates the Meta AI assistant, which can be summoned by saying “Hey Meta.” Users can get quick answers to queries, control various features of the eyewear, and respond to messages. Another key feature is Hindi language interaction support.
There’s also the Celebrity AI Voice feature from globally recognised personalities. In India, users can interact with the AI voice of actor Deepika Padukone. Another notable addition is support for contactless payments via UPI Lite by scanning a QR code, activated simply by saying, “Hey Meta, scan and pay.” The prerequisite for this feature is having WhatsApp linked to the user’s bank account.
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) AI glasses: Price and availability
With a starting price of Rs 39,900, the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) AI glasses come in three style options: Headliner, Skyler, and Wayfarer. Each of these is available in colour variants such as Shiny Cosmic Blue, Shiny Mystic Violet, and Shiny Asteroid Grey.
Starting today (December 2), the glasses are available for purchase through the Ray-Ban India website and offline stores across the country. As of now, it is unclear whether the new smart glasses can be bought with prescription lenses or other lens options like polarised, photochromic, or anti-reflective coatings.
