Redmi Note 15 Special Edition arrives in India with a suave leather finish, large battery

Xiaomi has given the Redmi Note 15 a wardrobe upgrade. The new Redmi Note 15 Special Edition has launched in India, and while the internals stay comfortably mid-range, the design is doing a fair bit of heavy lifting here.

The standout is the vegan leather rear panel, which gives the phone a more polished feel than the average phone in this price bracket. It comes in Carbon Black, Crimson Reserve, and Frosted White colourways.

Paired with a large battery, a bright AMOLED screen, and sensible everyday specs, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 SE is an enticing option in the crowded mid-range smartphone segment. Here’s everything you need to know.

Redmi Note 15 Special Edition key specs and features

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 15 Special Edition runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There’s also microSD expansion up to 1TB.

Up front, you get a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a claimed 3,200 nits peak brightness. That should make it more than usable outdoors. Xiaomi is also promising DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, so the panel should have a bit of pop.

Durability is decent too, with IP65 and IP66 dust and water resistance. It’s not full dunk-it-in-the-pool territory, but it should survive the kind of accidental exposure phones tend to face in day-to-day use.

Camera hardware is fairly straightforward. There’s a 50MP main rear camera doing the primary imaging duties, while selfies are handled by a 20MP front camera that can also shoot 4K video.

The other big headline feature is battery life. The Note 15 SE packs a gargantuan 5,800mAh battery. It also supports 45W fast charging, which should keep refuels reasonably painless.

Software-wise, it ships with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, so it arrives current enough to avoid feeling dated out of the box.

Redmi Note 15 SE 5G price and availability

The Redmi Note 15 Special Edition has launched with a special price starting at Rs 19,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant. The 8GB+128GB model is priced at Rs 21,999, while the top-end 8GB+256GB version comes in at Rs 23,999. It goes on sale in India from April 7 via e-commerce platforms.
