Juggling several AIs will be much smoother

Samsung opens Galaxy AI to support multi-AI agents

Compatible Samsung phones already ship with Gemini AI onboard, along with the brand’s Bixby assistant. Now, the South Korean chaebol has confirmed that it is introducing a multi-agent ecosystem to expand its Galaxy AI suite. Perplexity will be the first AI agent to lead the charge. Per the company’s internal research, the majority of users use more than two AI agents. Samsung aims to offer an open and inclusive AI ecosystem, thus giving users more choice and flexibility.

Galaxy AI now has Perplexity in addition to Gemini and Bixby

Samsung’s upcoming flagships – the Galaxy S26 series are expected to be the first to get support for Perplexity. This will give users the choice to opt for their default assistant during the initial setup process.

The revamped Galaxy AI will have support for AI agents at the operating system level. This means that they understand user context for a natural interaction and a smooth usage experience. It will eliminate the friction of having to switch between apps. Users often select different AI models based on their requirements and specific tasks.

With the deeper integration of Perplexity AI, users can summon the agent by saying ‘Hey Plex’ or by assigning a power button to it. The AI agent will also be embedded in Samsung’s first-party apps including Gallery, Notes, Calendar, Clock, and Reminders. It is also said to be available in certain third-party apps.

Samsung also confirmed that the Plex agent will be capable of handling multi-step workflows.

As per Samsung, additional details about compatible devices and experiences will be announced soon. We can expect the flagship phones to receive support for the multi-agent AI ecosystem first as a part of the stable OneUI 8.5 version.
