Samsung Galaxy C55 5G is a re-designed Galaxy M55 5G with a leather back

Samsung has been pulling out all the stops to capture a share in the mid-range smartphone segment lately, with its Galaxy A and M series of smartphones. However, the company also a third, albeit lesser-known offering in the segment – Galaxy C series. And the company has just unveiled its latest addition to the lineup, the Galaxy C55 5G.

Samsung Galaxy C55 5G key features and specifications

The Samsung Galaxy C55 5G, in essence, is a rebranded Galaxy M55 5G, with a slightly more premium design.

Processor, storage, and battery

The device is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, coupled with an Adreno GPU. It comes in two storage variants, both with 256GB of storage, and either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Both variants, however, do get support for expandable storage up to 1TB, via a microSD card slot.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy C55 5G packs the same 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging, as is the case with several of the company’s other devices across price points.

Design, display, and audio

Coming to the design and display of the phone, the Samsung Galaxy C55 5G, unlike the Galaxy M55 5G, gets a leather back. However, it has the same 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of peak brightness. For audio too, there is a stereo-speaker setup with support for Dolby Atmos, and a voice focus feature that drowns ambient sounds during calls or audio recording.

Speaking of optics, the Samsung Galaxy C55 5G gets a triple camera setup at the rear, with a 50MP primary sensor with support for optical image stabilisation, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front is a 50MP sensor for selfies and video calls.

Connectivity and software

On the connectivity front, the Samsung Galaxy C55 5G gets Wi-Fi 802.11a and Bluetooth 5.2, support, as well as NFC, GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, and a USB Type-C port for charging or data transfers. The device also gets an in-display fingerprint sensor.

It comes running on Android 14-based One UI 6.1 straight out of the box and gets a guaranteed four years of software updates and five years of security patches.

Samsung Galaxy C 55 5G: Pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy C55 5G can be had in black and orange colourways. It is priced at ¥1,999 (approximately Rs 23,000) for the 8GB RAM variant, whereas the 12GB RAM variant is priced at ¥2,299 (approximately Rs 27,000).

Bear in mind however, the Samsung Galaxy C55 5G, like all other C-series smartphones, is a China-exclusive offering unlikely to make its way to India and other international markets anytime soon.
