Say goodbye to lengthy loading screens

Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is the company’s first smartphone to support seamless updates

It’s been about a little over a week since Samsung took the wraps of its Galaxy A55 5G smartphone. The mid-range A-series lineup is known for offering several flagship grade features without being quite so heavy on the pocket. Now though, it has yet another claim to fame.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, via a recent update, now supports seamless updates. Here’s all you need to know.

What are seamless updates?

Seamless updates were first introduced with Android Nougat (Version 7.0). The feature allows for updates on Android smartphones to download, permissions to be applied and verified, and for them to install in the background, while one continues to use their device as per usual.

This ensures users don’t have to go about lengthy installation procedures and wait for prolonged periods of time, staring at a loading screen.

Seamless updates on the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G: What you need to know

The new One UI 6.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G brings seamless updates to the phone, a feature which Samsung had shied away from, for long.  The change was first spotted and reported by SamMobile.

Users can now figure out when their phone is undergoing an update, through a redesigned progress bar. It has two stages: one that says “Download and Install…” and another that says “Verification.” This ensures users have a clear visibility on the progress of the update at all times, without ever really having to put their work on the phone on hold.

Once the update has been downloaded onto the device, and installed in the background, a new “Restart Now” option pops up. All users have to do is tap on the same, and the phone applies the update via a quick reboot. Existing Samsung smartphones, for  reference, get an “Install Now” prompt when the update has finished downloading.

How to install an update on your Samsung smartphone

To install an update on your Galaxy A55 5G, do the following:

1. Head to the Settings app on your phone.

2. Find the option that says ‘Software update,’ or ‘System updates,’ and tap on it.

3. Next, tap on ‘Check for system updates,’ or‘Check for software updates.’ If an update is available, it should pop up. Tap on “Download and install,” and it should begin to download automatically.

4. When the download is complete, follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

While installing an update on your device, ensure you are connected to a stable and fast Wi-Fi network, and that your phone is charged to at least 50 per cent. You can now enjoy interruption-free seamless updates on your Samsung smartphone.
