Rounding up everything known about the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE so far

Samsung’s Fan Edition or ‘FE’ models of its flagship S-series lineup have seen their share of popularity among price-conscious buyers. The formula with devices like the Galaxy S23 FE and even the older Galaxy S21 FE is simple – feature a design roughly resembling the S-series devices and toned-down specs.

Following last year’s Galaxy S23 FE, Samsung is widely rumoured to be working on the next-gen smartphone, expected to be called Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. While the launch time frame remains unknown, here’s a roundup of all the rumours around this upcoming Samsung phone.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: What is known so far

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will likely make use of the Exynos 2400 chipset that the base Galaxy S24 is available with in India. Select markets, however, could also see the Galaxy S24 FE pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor as well.

This time around, the phone could ditch the 8GB RAM setup FE-series phones got earlier as well, in favour of a more powerful 12GB RAM setup.

Additionally, it could also get two storage variants – one with 128GB and another with 256GB of storage, both UFS 4.0, as compared to the Galaxy S23 FE’s UFS 3.1 storage.

Coming to the battery, the Galaxy S24 FE is expected to get a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging, same as the Galaxy S23 FE, but bigger than the 4,000mAh unit found in the vanilla Galaxy S24 device.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: Design and display 

Speaking of the design, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is expected to sport aluminum edges, the same as the S23 FE. Now however, it may get a (marginally) smaller 6.1-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: Tentative launch timeline

Not much else is known about the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE for now, considering the launch is still a long time away. Samsung is known to be working on a device codenamed R12 internally.

This device is likely the Galaxy S24 FE, bearing in mind how the Galaxy S23 FE, S21 FE and the S20 FE were internally codenamed R11, R9 and R8 respectively. Rumour also has it, that the R10 codename was reserved for the S22 FE, which unfortunately, never made it to production.

Bearing in mind the launch timelines of previous FE-series devices, the Galaxy S24 FE could tentatively hit the shelves by the end of 2024, or early next year, closer to the launch of the Galaxy S25 series of smartphones.
