The rumour mill has been consistently leaking details about the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, which is expected to debut globally in Q1 2026. There have been reports suggesting that the S26 lineup may not receive major hardware upgrades compared to the S25 series.
However, there is a possibility that the S26 lineup could arrive with new software-based features to set it apart from the previous generation. According to a report by Android Authority, the S26 lineup may introduce camera features such as a 24MP mode and HDR10+ support.
Samsung Galaxy S26: New camera features incoming
In November, a tipster shared details about upcoming camera features through the Camera Assistant app designed for the S26 lineup. Now, a new report by the same publication, after scouring through text strings in the Camera Assistant app for One UI 8.5, reveals that two of the features that surfaced last month may make it to the S26 lineup.
The findings suggest that the Galaxy S26 lineup will offer a new 24MP option, along with a description explaining how to enable it in the camera settings and the compression settings it will use.
Additionally, a new HDR10+ option is said to be included, which can be used instead of standard HDR while capturing videos in both regular and Pro modes.

The November leak had also speculated about a few more camera features, such as Adaptive Pixel, which reportedly merges multiple lower-resolution images into a single high-resolution one, and a focus slider. It remains unclear whether these features will make it to One UI 8.5, which is expected to come preloaded on the Galaxy S26 series.
Samsung Galaxy S26 series launch timeframe (rumoured)
A recent report claimed that the Galaxy S26 series, which will include the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, could go on sale in March 2026, with a possible launch by late February. The base and Plus models may come in Exynos 2600 variants, while the Ultra model is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset.
