Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Everything known so far about its design, camera, and launch

When Samsung rolls out a new Ultra, the smartphone world tends to pause and inspect every pixel. The upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra looks set to continue that ritual, only this time with a more refined silhouette, a brighter display, and a processor that’s being whispered about in tech circles for its AI muscle. Here’s everything that’s known about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra so far.

Galaxy S26 Ultra: A familiar face, fine-tuned

Leaks suggest Samsung isn’t tearing up the design rulebook but rather trimming and sculpting what already works. The floating camera rings of the S25 Ultra are reportedly being replaced by a more enclosed, symmetrical pill-shaped module.

The 6.9-inch OLED display is said to be brighter than ever, pushing up to 3000 nits with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. A flatter panel and subtly rounded corners hint at better grip and less hand fatigue; small touches that make a big difference in daily use. We go more in depth about the design changes and flourishes in this article.

Galaxy S26 Ultra: Cameras and power in focus

Samsung’s love affair with megapixels continues. The S26 Ultra is rumoured to keep its 200MP main camera, although this one is speculated to be a Sony sensor. The primary camera is flanked by a 50MP ultra-wide, a 50MP periscope telephoto, and a 10MP telephoto sensor for good measure. Selfie duties remain with a refined 12MP shooter, optimised for low-light and video calls that don’t flinch at motion blur.

Under the hood, Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will reportedly handle everything from multitasking to machine learning with grace, paired with a minimum of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Samsung hasn’t spilled details on battery size yet, but efficiency tweaks and faster charging are on the cards.

The countdown begins

If Samsung sticks to its playbook, a global launch is likely in January, though some insiders point to a late-February debut. The India release is expected a few weeks later, around March 2025. Alongside the Ultra, the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are also set to share the spotlight.
