Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 launches with 7 years of software support

Samsung has officially launched its new Galaxy Tab A11 in India. This new device steps in to replace the Galaxy Tab A9 from 2023 and while it keeps a lot of the old hardware, it does jump to 90Hz.

This launch is a quiet milestone for the company because with it, every tablet in its current lineup now features a screen with a higher refresh rate than 60Hz.

A smooth display and a rare software support promise

The display here is a 8.7-inch LCD panel which still has an HD+ resolution of 1340 x 800 pixels. Powering the device is the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, the very same chip found in the last model.

The tablet comes paired with configurations offering up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A microSD card slot allows for a wild expansion up to 2TB if you need more space.

The front camera gets a welcome boost from a measly 2MP to a much better 5MP sensor for video calls, while the rear camera remains an 8MP shooter with autofocus.

The biggest surprise isn’t a piece of hardware, but a software commitment. Samsung is promising an incredible seven years of both major Android OS updates and security patches. This is practically unheard of for an affordable device and means the Tab A11 could theoretically receive updates all the way to Android 22.
