The new software is built upon Android 16, and though it’s not the most feature-loaded update we’ve seen, it does ship with multiple enhancements. Samsung suggests that the big idea here involves advanced multimodal capabilities. That is a fancy way of saying your phone will have a much better grasp of your real-time context, allowing for interactions that feel genuinely more natural and helpful.
One standout One UI 8 feature is that it offers clear options to decide if AI features process your data on-device or use a hybrid cloud approach. Another feature Samsung highlights is the integration with Google’s Gemini AI, especially for those rocking the latest Galaxy Buds3 or Buds3 Pro. A simple voice command or a long press on either earbud is all it takes to summon the powerful assistant.
If you’re ready to dive in, users in the UK, US, India, and Korea can sign up for the beta through the Samsung Members app. The list gets even longer in September when the program extends to the Galaxy S23 series, the Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and the mid-range lineup that includes the A36 5G, A55 5G, A35 5G, and A54.
Samsung is banking on user feedback from this beta phase to iron out any kinks before the main event. The official, stable version of One UI 8 is slated for a September launch, starting with the Galaxy S25 family before making its way to other phones.
But the fun does not stop there. An update for One UI 8 Watch is also planned to expand beyond the Galaxy Watch8 series later this year.
