Samsung has officially started pushing the stable One UI 8 update, built on Android 16, to its Galaxy S25 smartphone family. The rollout kicks off in South Korea and finally brings the official software to the public after a couple of months in a beta programme.
It kicks off with users who participated in the beta test first. Everyone else should expect the update to land for them as well in the coming weeks – though Samsung has not provided a specific country-wise timeline.
It’s finally here after months of beta testing
This marks the first of seven major OS upgrades promised for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The update is initially reaching users who participated in the beta test, but it should be available for everyone else running One UI 7 very soon.
For those who were brave enough to run the beta, the final update is a relatively small download of around 550MB that just flips the switch from beta to stable. Everyone else jumping straight from One UI 7 is looking at a much heftier 3.9GB download, since they need all the core files.
The update, carrying a firmware version ending in BYI3, also bundles in the September 2025 security patch, bringing features like automatic call captioning.

As a pleasant surprise, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which launched a few months after the rest of the S25 lineup in May, is also getting its taste of One UI 8. This is pretty unexpected considering the Edge model was completely left out of the beta testing programme.
With the S25 line now covered, attention turns to what is next. We could see the Galaxy S24 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, join the One UI 8 party later this month.
Samsung has already gone on record promising to get the update to all eligible devices before 2025 wraps up. The company also mentioned that One UI 8 Watch will expand beyond the Galaxy Watch 8 series later in the year.
