Samsung could equip its upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra with a new AI-powered display technology called “Flex Magic Pixel” to function as a built-in digital privacy shield. Let’s check out how this is even possible.
Flex Magic Pixel promises to end screen peeking without ruining your display's brightness
The technology uses artificial intelligence to manipulate individual pixels, effectively narrowing the screen’s viewing angle on command. The goal is to stop nosy neighbours from peeking at your banking apps or private messages while you are on the move.
It is a step up from traditional stick-on privacy films, which often compromise screen brightness and image quality. Samsung has been showing off the technology, which just entered mass production, at events like MWC 2024 and this year’s K-Display 2025.
The secret enabling this feature is another piece of tech called CoE or Colour Filter on Encapsulation. Samsung Display, which brands this as “LEAD”, is bringing CoE to a bar-style phone for the first time with the S26 Ultra. This process ditches the traditional polariser film in the OLED stack.

The change makes the panel thinner, boosts light transmittance for better power efficiency, and improves colour reproduction. Its high light transmittance is crucial because it compensates for any brightness reduction when Flex Magic Pixel is active.
This feature will initially be exclusive to the top-tier Ultra, further separating it from its siblings. Samsung is also reportedly revamping its entire S26 lineup with new names. We could be looking at an S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra, which would replace the current S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra models.
The S26 Pro is expected to run on Samsung’s own 2nm Exynos 2600 chip, while the Edge and Ultra are being tested with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. The company might also bring Flex Magic Pixel to the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 later in 2026.
