Another 0.3mm shaved off the scale

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Edge could be even thinner despite the bigger battery

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge will be an incredibly thin 5.5mm while somehow packing a larger battery. The scoop comes straight from Ice Universe. This move would shave 0.3mm off the current Galaxy S25 Edge and position it to compete directly with Apple’s rumoured iPhone 17 Air on thinness.

Battery set to grow larger at the same time

However, the real magic trick is the claim that Samsung will also boost the battery capacity to 4,200mAh, which is a notable jump from the 3,900mAh cell in its predecessor.

This feels like a direct answer to some of the initial skepticism levelled at the current S25 Edge. While some did initially questioned the battery life of this model prior to its launch, we put those concerns to rest in our review, which found that the phone comfortably gets you through your day.

That said, there is some chatter about the exact battery size of the S26 Edge. Another Weibo leaker suggested an even beefier 4,400mAh capacity. But this difference could boil down to the distinction between “rated” and “typical” capacity, which often varies slightly.

It is also possible Samsung is still tweaking the final design, since the phone’s launch is still about five months out.

The plot thickens with the expected branding shake-up for the S26 series. Evidence points to a new lineup of “Pro”, “Edge”, and “Ultra” models. The S26 Edge would effectively replace the S26 Plus.

It’s possible that to achieve that battery size while also trimming the thickness, Samsung may be using the new silicon-carbon battery material technology – though specifics remain under wraps.
