Samsung shows off a colossal 130-inch micro RGB TV at CES 2026

CES 2026 is packed with ambitious ideas, but few are as instantly commanding as the new television Samsung rolled out at its First Look event in Las Vegas. The South Korean giant used the CES 2026 stage to underline a simple message: in an AI-first future, displays are no longer supporting characters. They are the main event.

Front and centre was a massive 130-inch TV powered by Samsung’s new micro RGB display technology. It is not a concept piece or a distant promise. This is a working, fully realised panel that Samsung is positioning as the next step in premium home entertainment.

Micro RGB takes centre stage at Samsung's CES 2026 showcase

Unlike traditional LED or even mini LED TVs, micro RGB uses microscopic red, green and blue LEDs as individual light sources. This allows colour and brightness to be controlled at a far more precise, pixel-level scale.

The difference will be obvious. Colours will appear cleaner and more lifelike, blacks will stay deep without losing detail, and highlights will pop without the haloing that often creeps into high-end LCD panels. At 130 inches, the display will feel closer to a piece of digital art than a conventional television.

Crucially, Samsung is framing micro RGB as a practical evolution rather than a niche experiment. It sits above Neo QLED in ambition, but below the ultra-exclusive world of micro LED installations. The pitch is simple, it offers reference-grade picture quality, without the complexity or rarity that keeps cutting-edge displays out of reach.

Displays as the face of Samsung’s AI push

The micro RGB TV may have grabbed the spotlight, but it was part of a wider display-led narrative at CES 2026. Across Neo QLED, micro LED and lifestyle models, Samsung focused on three themes: finer brightness control, improved colour volume and smarter adaptation to real-world viewing conditions. Samsung also introduced at world’s brightest QD-OLED TV panel at CES, which you can read about below.

Moreover, Samsung featured large-format screens heavily, tuned not just for films, but for sports, gaming and shared living spaces. Anti-reflective coatings, wider viewing angles and consistent performance in bright rooms were all clearly prioritised.
