Spotify has unleashed a new track mixing tool for its Premium subscribers that effectively lets you play DJ right inside your personal playlists. This new feature is activated by a “Mix” button in your playlist toolbar. Let’s dive into everything that it offers.
Spotify Mix feature: How to use and rollout
By default, Spotify automatically creates smooth transitions between your favourite tracks. You can, however, get your hands dirty and manually craft the perfect segue for a more customised feel.
You can tap the “Auto” button located between tracks to open up a suite of basic mixing controls. The app presents you with waveform and beat data to help you pinpoint the perfect moment for a transition. You can then tweak everything from volume and EQ to specific effect curves. There are even handy presets like “Fade” and “Rise” to get you started quickly.
Your creations are not just for your own ears. Spotify lets you save these mixed playlists and share them with friends. Other Premium users can even collaborate with you on a mix, making it a proper social experience.

The tool is currently rolling out in beta, so you might not see it just yet. Spotify says it is for “eligible Premium users” but has not specified the criteria for who gets it first. If you do have access, you can toggle your transitions on and off with a simple press of the Mix button.
This lets you instantly hear the original playlist without your DJ magic. It’s a powerful new way to level up your listening experience and finally prove your skills on the digital turntables.
If the feature sounds familiar, that’s because Apple Music has been offering a similar, albeit simpler version since iOS 26. Called AutoMix, it automatically creates smooth transitions between subsequent songs. However, it’s fully automated and lacks Spotify’s manual waveform editing.
