Home security cameras are the type of that type of tech that you don’t think you need until something goes wrong and suddenly they are a lifesaver. Not only are security cameras great for documenting security issues, they’re also great for just monitoring things at home when you’re away. Perhaps you want to keep an eye on your cats, or the babysitter, or even to keep an eye out for fires, flooding, and other mishaps. The mere presence of a security camera can often be enough of a deterrent to thieves. If you’ve been convinced that you need one, here are the best security cameras for your home.
TP-Link Tapo C200 security camera
This Rs 1,499 camera is cheap and very effective at its job. It doesn’t have any fancy features like auto-swivel and motion tracking, but it does have motion detection, can be adjusted to any angle, and transmits data wirelessly to your phone or PC. You’re notified when there’s motion and it can record video at up to 1080p.
There’s also a privacy mode that stops recording, and there’s local storage (up to 128 GB via microSD) that you can use when you don’t want to transmit data wirelessly. The best part is that this camera even has a 2-way communication option so you can speak with the person or animal at the other end.
CP Plus Ezykam CP-F41A security camera
If you intend to place the camera outdoors, you should go for a weatherproof camera like the CP Plus Ezykam for Rs 5,499. This model features IP65 dust and splash resistance, which makes it safe to use in rainy conditions. It has a built in mic and speaker for two-way communications, support for 128 GB of onboard storage, and motion detection that sends real-time alerts to the user.
The camera even has a siren mode where it triggers a loud and audible alert when motion or other security events that you specify are detected. Oh, and there are lights as well for when you need better illumination.
Xiaomi 2i HD Dome security camera
The Xiaomi 2i is a motorised, dome-style camera that offers 360° horizontal coverage and 108° of vertical coverage. It also captures crisp and clear 1080p video and uses infrared LEDs for clearer low-light images. The camera comes with smart voice control – it’s compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa – and uses AI to detect humans.
Other features include real-time 2-way communication, H.265 compression for video, and support for local (microSD), NAS, and cloud storage. All data is transmitted over Wi-Fi, but over a fully encrypted channel. If you have Mi Home, you can even access the camera directly via the app on your TV or smartphone. Available for Rs 2,799, this is a great addition to any modern home.
TrueView Solar Linkage T18200 security camera
Gardens and other outdoor areas are not easy to monitor or even to get power to for mounting a security camera system. This is where the Solar Linkage camera from TrueView comes in. This camera can be solar powered, eliminating the need for a power line and giving you the flexibility to install it anywhere you want. There’s also an 18,000 mAh battery for when solar power runs out.
Interestingly, the T18200 also happens to be two cameras in one. It includes a fixed wide angle camera for general monitoring, and a second motorised pan-tilt camera for tracking. It’s also weatherproof, has a siren function, and can track human movement. These features do come at a price as the camera will set you back Rs 9,100. Depending on the use-case though, this can be worth it.
Qubo Smart Home Security HCM01 security camera
If you’re looking for simple, foolproof security for your home via an outdoors security camera, the Qubo HCM01 is just what you’re looking for. At Rs 3,390 it’s not too expensive, but features 1080p video capture, person detection with an alarm function, two-way comms support, a night vision mode, IP65 weatherproofing, and even alerts you when the person at the other end is not wearing a face-mask – a useful feature to have.
