4 unique ways to create with Gemini Nano Banana

Google’s Gemini Nano Banana AI has completely taken over social media for the past week or so. A lot of it is just those saree trend photos, 3D figurines, and uncanny selfies with Shah Rukh Khan. While those are a blast, the tool’s real power lies beyond what’s trending. Here’s a guide to some of the coolest, most thoughtful things you can create right now.

1. Star in your own vintage Bollywood movie

You can take any photo of you and your partner and impress them by transporting yourselves into a scene that feels straight out of a 70s film. It’s impressive because it moves beyond a simple filter to a complete aesthetic overhaul.

Prompt to try:Turn this photo of us into a retro, vintage-inspired portrait with a grainy, film-like quality. We’ll be on a balcony overlooking a rainy Mumbai street. The man, in a simple white kurta, is handing a cup of chai to the woman, who is draped in a deep blue cotton saree. The atmosphere should feel warm and intimate, with soft light from inside contrasting the moody, rain-streaked world outside, capturing a quiet moment in the monsoon.

2. Time-travel into old family photos

You can literally insert yourself into cherished family moments from the past. It’s a unique way to connect with your family history, creating a piece of art that’s both technically impressive and deeply personal. Simply upload a photo from your family’s past and a photo of yourself and insert the following prompt.

Prompt to try:Blend these two photos. One is my parents’ wedding photo from the 70s. The other is a recent photo of me. Create a single, seamless colour photograph where I am attending their wedding as a guest, smiling at them from the crowd. Retain the style and aesthetic of the wedding photo.

3. Visualise a cleaner, greener public space

You can use Nano Banana to reimagine public infrastructure and visualise what our surroundings could look like if the authorities actually cared. Simply upload a photo of, say, a neglected street corner and ask Gemini to visualize it in its full potential. For the following example, we’ll be using the image of a railway station.

Prompt to try:Transform this photo of a railway station platform. Reimagine it as a modern, clean, and efficient transit hub with clean, organised seating areas, and small green planters. The space should look welcoming and well-maintained, but don’t change the overall structure of the platform.

4. Create your own comics

This is for the storytellers. Nano Banana can generate a multi-panel narrative from one or more photos of you and your friends. You can craft an entire visual story arc featuring yourselves as the protagonists in a fun, relatable setting.

Prompt to try:Create a 6-panel silent comic strip using the people from the uploaded photos as the main characters. The story should be a mini-adventure where one friend panics after realizing they’ve lost their new wireless earbuds at a crowded street market. Show the group retracing their steps, navigating chaos, and having funny, near-miss encounters before finding the earbud case being playfully nudged by a street cat.
