Upcoming phones in September 2025 to watch out for

September is shaping up to be a blockbuster for new smartphones with companies like Apple, Samsung, Oppo, and others all preparing to drop fresh hardware. That includes powerful flagships to budget-friendly contenders, meaning there’s something for everyone.

Here’s a look at the devices either officially confirmed for launch this month or at least strongly expected to debut.

1. New Apple iPhone Series

Apple has officially scheduled its “Awe Dropping” keynote for September 9 where it will unveil a completely revamped iPhone lineup. The new family is likely to include a standard iPhone, the Pro and Pro Max models, and a super-skinny iPhone Air replacing the Plus. For the first time, even the base model is expected to get a 120Hz display.

The Pro variants are ditching titanium for aluminium frames and will pack the new A19 Pro chip. The Pro Max is getting a battery larger than 5,000mAh and a periscope camera with up to 8x zoom. Prices are expected to climb, starting around Rs 80,000 and soaring past Rs 1,50,000 for the top-tier Pro Max.

2. Samsung Galaxy S25 FE

Samsung is firing the first shot with its rumoured Galaxy S25 FE launch confirmed for September 4. This handset looks to deliver flagship vibes without the eye-watering price tag. It is built around a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, an Exynos 2400 chip runs the show.

The camera setup is said to feature a 50MP main shooter with optical stabilisation, an ultra-wide, and a 3x telephoto lens. The battery gets a nice bump to 4,900mAh with 45W wired charging support. Expect it to hit stores mid-month with a rumoured price tag between Rs 60,000 and Rs 65,000.

3. Samsung Galaxy F17, A17, and M17

Alongside its premium FE model, Samsung is also rumoured to be dropping a trio of budget 5G phones this September, though it’s unconfirmed and should be taken with a generous pinch of salt.

The trio is the Galaxy F17, A17, and M17 and all are aimed at the more affordable end of the market. The F17 and M17 are expected to share a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED 90Hz display, a 50MP main camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging.

The A17 is tipped to feature similar specs but with an Exynos 1330 chipset and a promise of six years of software updates. While no launch date is confirmed, all three are expected to land with price tags comfortably under Rs 20,000.

4. Oppo F31 Series

Oppo is reportedly unleashing its F31 series sometime between September 12 and 14. The lineup includes the F31, F31 Pro, and F31 Pro+, each powered by a different chipset from MediaTek or Qualcomm. The standout feature across the entire family is an absolutely colossal 7,000mAh battery.

This is paired with speedy 80W fast charging. The designs vary between models, with leaked images showing different camera island shapes for each. The series is rumoured to start at Rs 20,000 for the base model, rising to Rs 35,000 for the Pro versions.
