Upcoming phones to buy in 2022

Here is a list of a few of the upcoming launches that might save you from making a hasty decision. It will help you in deciding whether you should wait for a few months or buy a phone which is already on the market. This will help you make a better purchasing decision overall.

iPhone 14 line-up

Perhaps the most eagerly awaited release of any year is the iPhone line-up. The iPhone 14 series is just around the corner as they are expected to be launched at the end of September 2022. Many leaks and tips have revealed almost every major change. We now have a fair understanding of what we can expect coming this September.

There is going to be a refreshed design as well as a whole new model. There is going to be a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, which would be a non-pro variant. This model would be perfect for those who want a bigger screen size but don’t require the pro features. This is reported to cost less than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which would be the most expensive in the line-up

There is bad news, too, for the people who were looking forward to a compact phone. The iPhone Mini is expected not to be launched this year. It can be the case that this line-up is dead. The usual iPhone 14 and Pro variants would be there. The Pro variants are expected to get rid of the notch and adopt a pill cut-out for the Face ID with a hole punch beside it for the selfie camera. The prices are also expected to increase a fair bit this year.

Pixel 6A

Google doesn’t offer its flagship Pixel models in India, but they do release the A-variants. It is an affordable version of the flagship models. It comes with a premium build and a clean OS experience. On top of this, it will have a set of cameras that are optimized to compete with even the flagship phones, which cost double the price of this one. It was already launched in the US and Australia in July itself. We are almost a week or so away from the launch of this phone in India. This can be launched any day now.

Maybe by the time you are reading this, it might have already launched. All the details of this phone are known at this point. This is going to come with a 60hz, 6.1-inch OLED panel. It will have the Google Tensor processor, the same as the more expensive Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, which are developed by Google. Due to the presence of the in-house chipset, 6a will be a highly optimized device. This will have a dual 12MP camera setup at the back.

Asus ROG 6 and 6 Pro

This phone is specifically built keeping in mind mobile gamers. Mobile gaming has become a mainstream thing for quite a while. The ROG line-up, which stands for Republic of Gamers, is known for its mind-blowing spec sheet. It comes equipped with top-of-the-line specifications in every field. From its overclocked processors to faster RAM and buttery smooth 144hz panel, the phone is a delight to use. This is a perfect phone for those who want to push the phone to its limits and are power users. Obviously, they also carry quite a handsome sticker price too.

Xiaomi Redmi K50i

We all remember the legendary value-for-money proposition that the Redmi K20 was at the time when it was launched in India. Xiaomi wants to repeat that success by introducing a phone that can give you a flagship performance at a price point that is more pocket friendly. This is expected to come with the powerful Dimensity 8100 processor. It will have a big battery as well as a triple camera setup at the back. The main sensor will be 64MP.

Samsung Fold 4 and Flip 4

Samsung is the leading manufacturer of foldable smartphones in the market. They are by far ahead of all the other manufacturers. These are perfect phones for those who want to try out a new form factor and like to stand out from the crowd. The Flip 4 is a phone with a 6.7-inch display, it has a clamshell design. Whereas the Fold 4 is a 7.6-inch device that folds like a book. Both devices will come with the latest Snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 chipset. Certainly, they aren’t cheap, but they are beautiful and powerful devices. These are just speculative prices based on last year’s prices.
