WhatsApp is reportedly working on a paid subscription plan that could introduce additional features to users. A new report by WABetaInfo reveals that the instant messaging platform could soon get an updated chat interface. Read on to know all the details.
Small design tweaks to change the way chats appear
The source says that WhatsApp will introduce a softer design with more rounded corners for the message bubbles. It will almost look like a pill. The frame around media files is also removed and they now appear as rounded elements matching the new bubble style. Previously, there were visible borders and padding around the content.

The new change gives a cleaner and modern interface. It applies to all types of messages including text, images, polls, events etc.
The refreshed design for chat bubbles is currently on the app’s beta version 2.25.36.16 for Android. It should roll out to the wider public in coming days. There’s no word if iPhone users will also receive the new chat interface.
Apart from the minor design refresh, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on introducing the ability to view status updates of unsaved contacts. This simply means that users can see the status updates of somebody they have interacted with but not saved their number. The Meta-owned platform will stop sharing updates with unsaved contacts if the latest interactions are no longer recent.
