Microsoft has finally flipped the switch on Xbox Cloud Gaming, its game streaming service, in India. The company announced the launch on Tuesday. This comes after users began posting screenshots of AAA titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Cricket 24 running at a smooth 1080p and 60FPS.
Hundreds of titles now available on PCs, phones, and TVs
In order to stream, you will have to be subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass subscription. Microsoft has clarified that cloud streaming is included with the Essential, Premium, and Ultimate plans, and it is also available for PC Game Pass members. This is the big one. It means you can play hundreds of console games without owning a single piece of Xbox hardware.
To get started, all you need is the Xbox app on a compatible device. This includes PCs, Macs, iOS and Android mobiles, recent Samsung and LG smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV dongles, and more. You can also stream select titles you already own, not just the Game Pass catalogue.
To get started, you will need a steady internet connection (Microsoft recommends over 20 Mbps) and a compatible controller. Both the Xbox Wireless and Sony DualSense controllers are good to go. A few games also support touch controls or the classic keyboard and mouse.

This launch follows last month’s big Game Pass price reorganisation. The new plans start at Rs. 499 for Essential, jump to Rs. 699 for Premium, and hit Rs. 1,389 for the all-you-can-eat Ultimate tier, which gets you day one titles. PC Game Pass is priced at Rs. 939.
Microsoft is not dropping into an empty arena, however. The Indian cloud gaming scene is heating up suddenly. Nvidia’s rival service, GeForce Now, is also scheduled to launch this November. Meanwhile local players like OnePlay and Jio Games Cloud have been available for a while now.
