Xiaomi 17 Ultra design leak reveals a professional camera-like look

After launching the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max last month in China, Xiaomi now seems to be working on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Some reports claim that the device may debut earlier than scheduled, possibly by the end of this year in the home market. Tipster Digital Chat Station has been leaking key details about the 17 Ultra, and a new Weibo post from him sheds more light on its design.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra design details emerge

According to the tipster, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s engineering prototype features a flat display with rounded corners and symmetrical bezels measuring around 1.1x mm. The display design appears to be similar to that of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which features a 6.9-inch panel offering 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Moving on to the back, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s rear camera deco will comprise a centrally positioned circular module housing a massive periscope telephoto sensor at the top. The rest of the back is said to be made of fibreglass, and colour options may include classic black, white, and a striking purple edition.

DCS has previously mentioned that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will arrive in two versions. While both variants are expected to feature the same set of cameras, the higher-end version will come with new, innovative and disruptive imaging features. The new leak suggests that this version’s design will closely resemble a professional camera, with black as the highlight colour.

Apart from stating that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will deliver a major leap in photography, the tipster added that its vibration motor performance is average, while the battery performance is said to be decent. As per rumours, the device is expected to house a large 7,000mAh battery and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

Coming to the 17 Ultra’s camera setup, recent reports reveal it will feature a 50MP OmniVision OV50X primary camera, a 50MP Samsung JN5 ultra-wide lens, a 50MP Samsung JN5 telephoto camera, and a new 200MP Samsung HPE periscope telephoto sensor.

For selfies, it is said to sport a 50MP OmniVision OV50M front camera. The leaked specs suggest that the 17 Ultra will offer a stellar photography experience.
