This new Xiaomi AC can cool your entire living room in just 5 minutes

Xiaomi just dropped what it claims is its most advanced air conditioning system it has ever made, and honestly, the specs on this thing live up to that claim.

The Mijia Central Air Conditioner Pro Dual Air Wheel series was unveiled at the company’s recent imaging strategy event alongside Leica, as reported by Gizmochina. This marks Xiaomi’s first central air conditioning unit that’s been developed and manufactured entirely at its own smart home appliance factory.

Smart home chops in an AC package

The AC is special especially because Xiaomi claims the flagship 8 HP model can cool down an entire living room in just five minutes. That’s thanks to a massive 556 mm dual air wheel system powered by twin 200W motors, which pushes out over 7,000 cubic metres of air per hour.

The system is designed for larger homes ranging from about 120 to 190 square metres, with options to connect anywhere from four to six indoor units depending on your setup. There’s a dual-cylinder compressor with vapour injection technology under the hood, along with triple-row condensers and evaporators. All of that engineering means it can operate reliably in temperatures as extreme as −35°C all the way up to 65°C.

Energy efficiency is actually decent here too. The 8 HP model scores an APF rating of 5.40, which qualifies for China’s top-tier efficiency certification. Xiaomi says a single bedroom would only use about 2.5 kWh overnight when running in ultra-low-frequency mode.

Every unit comes bundled with a 10-inch smart panel that connects to air purifiers, humidifiers, and ventilation systems. It automatically adjusts settings based on readings for PM2.5 particles, CO2 levels, and humidity. The premium dual-outlet version even includes human-sensing radar that tracks where people are in the room and directs airflow accordingly.

Pricing starts at around 25,999 yuan (approximately Rs 3,32,000) for the base 5 HP model, while the fully-loaded 8 HP dual-outlet version will set you back 43,999 yuan (approximately Rs 5,62,000). That’s not cheap, but Xiaomi is throwing in free installation and a 10-year warranty across the entire lineup.

The only question now is whether this cool device will ever make it to India. And the likely answer is “no,” given that Xiaomi sells a very limited range of its smart home products in the country. Still, if that ever changes, we’ll be sure to cover it, so stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma.
