Xiaomi has offered an early peek at what’s coming with the next HyperOS update. Shared via the company’s official channel, the software will introduce new AI-powered features for payments and photo editing across supported Xiaomi devices.
The headline change is how AI is being woven into things people already do on their phones, without demanding much extra effort from the user.
AI that keeps an eye on your spending
The next version of HyperOS will introduce AI Expense Tracking within Xiaomi Wallet, designed to automatically log expenses by recognising and recording bills.
Instead of manually noting down purchases, users can let the system handle it in the background. The feature also supports widgets, making it easier to keep tabs on spending at a glance.

It’s a sensible addition for anyone who relies on digital payments but never quite gets around to tracking expenses properly. If it works as promised, it could turn Xiaomi Wallet into something closer to a low-key financial assistant.
Photo editing gets smarter and more flexible
The camera and gallery apps are also seeing meaningful upgrades. Animated photos can now retain their dynamic format even after editing, which means no more flattening live-style images just to make small tweaks. Users can choose to overwrite the original file or save a separate edited copy.
Editing tools such as cropping, adjustments, filters, and watermarks now support copy-and-paste actions, allowing edits to be reused across images or pulled in from other apps. There’s also a new smart film feature that can automatically generate AI-backed music and subtitles for images.
Magic Removal has been upgraded with glare removal to reduce lens flare on faces, while Super AI now offers a full-screen editing view and a new ‘Easy Photo Editing’ entry point. Photo-based QR code recognition has also been added, making the gallery app more functional beyond just viewing images.
Better connections across devices
Rounding out the update are interconnection improvements that aim to make sharing calls, messages, and notifications easier across Xiaomi phones, iPhones, Macs, and Windows PCs. Xiaomi hasn’t shared full details yet, but the goal is to have fewer barriers between devices, even across different ecosystems.
Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed when the next HyperOS update will roll out, though the new AI additions sound exciting. What do you think? Drop a comment below.
