Android 16 based OriginOS 6 arrives on iQOO Z9 and Z9x

Vivo’s OriginOS 6 rollout is entering its final phase, and two more devices are joining the list. The iQOO Z9 and iQOO Z9x have started receiving the Android 16-based update, bringing a batch of visual changes, new interface elements, and system-level improvements to the mid-range pair.

How to update iQOO Z9, Z9X to OriginOS 6

The update is currently rolling out gradually, which means it may only be available in select regions at first. If your iQOO Z9 or iQOO Z9X hasn’t received the notification yet, it should officially appear in the coming days as the rollout expands.

For the iQOO Z9, the update arrives with firmware version PD2346F_EX_A_16.2.10.4.W30, while the Z9x gets PD2353F_EX_A_16.2.11.0.W30. Users can manually check availability by heading to Settings > System updates.

If the update hasn’t reached your phone yet, there is a way to jump the queue. Vivo allows users to request early access through its trial programme. To try it, go to Settings > About Phone > System updates > Version Trial, then select the trial version and install it.

The update itself is fairly large at around 4GB, so it’s worth ensuring you have enough storage space and at least 40 per cent battery before starting the installation. Backing up important data is also recommended.

OriginOS 6: A new look and smarter interface

OriginOS 6 brings a noticeable refresh to the interface. One of the headline additions is Origin Island, a dynamic interface element designed to surface real-time updates and simplify multitasking.

The Control Center has also been reworked with a more structured notification layout, along with updated lighting effects and fresh system fonts. On the lock screen, users get new clock styles, additional widgets, and more control over layout customisation.
