Android 16 QPR2 update for Pixel phones released; here’s what’s new

Google has rolled out Android 16 QPR2 for the Pixel series of phones, and it’s a one big update that adds quite a few features and changes. Starting from new lockscreen widgets to the message organiser, and more. Here’s everything new and the list of devices that support this update.

What’s new with Android 16 QPR2?

Android 16 QPR2 introduces lockscreen widgets, and you can access them by swiping left to right. Once you are in the feed, you should see a bunch of different widgets. To enable widgets on the lock screen, you need to head to Settings > Display & touch > Lock screen > Widgets on lock screen.

Further, this update brings a more Material 3 Expressive styling to the Settings app. This includes a revamped Notification history page, having full-size app icons and a new card layout. Android 16 QPR2 lets you choose custom icon shapes, letting you truly customise.

What’s more? The message organiser supports AI message summaries, which automatically group low-priority alerts, like promotions, news, etc.

Moreover, the Pixel Launcher search bar now has the new AI Mode, so you can head to the AI Mode with a single click. The update also adds more privacy and security, and has updates to Parental controls, which have now been separated from Digital Wellbeing.

Notably, this is an OTA update, so you should get an update notification. To install Android 16 QPR2, just head to Settings > System > System update, and tap ‘Check for update’. You should then see the big update; simply install it.

Android 16 QPR2 is being rolled out to all Pixel phones, starting from Pixel 6 to Pixel 10. Here’s the full list of supported.
