Google Search’s AI Mode is now on your homepage: Here’s how you can use it

Google’s AI Overviews is quite useful for getting answers to your queries in short summaries. However, it doesn’t exactly change how we search the web. But the new AI Mode in Google Search just might.

The feature, announced in May, is now on your home page in India. AI Mode is a conversational search tool akin to ChatGPT’s web search, and it’s all set to take your search experience to the next level. Sounds good? Here’s everything you need to know and how you can use it.

What’s AI Mode in Google Search, how to use it?

Google Search now has a new tab that lets you switch to a more modern and conversational way of searching the web. Called AI Mode, the feature offers answers to all your search queries, but in a conversational format.

That means you no longer have to go through different links to get an accurate answer. You get responses in short paragraphs and bullet points. Also, you can ask back-and-forth questions to get just the right responses. This is similar to ChatGPT’s web search.

Google says that AI Mode combines text, videos, maps, and images – all into one. This means the response will not just contain text, but also photos, videos, and links to the product.

There’s also the Deep Search feature in AI Mode that lets you dive deeper into the topic of your choice. Having said that, with the new AI Mode, Google is using Gemini to power up your search experience.

Here’s how you can use AI Mode in Google Search.

Step 1: Open browser and head to www.google.com.

Step 2: Search for a query.

Step 3: Now, tap on AI Mode, which should be right next to the All tab.

Step 4: Once you are in AI Mode, you can begin your conversational search spree.
