Last year, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16e in February as the most affordable offering in the iPhone 16 series. Speculation is rife that the brand may unveil the iPhone 17e as early as next month on a global scale. Ahead of the expected launch, key details of the device have surfaced, revealing what to expect.
Apple iPhone 17e key specifications (rumoured)
According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the iPhone 17e will feature a 6.1-inch OLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and a Dynamic Island design, similar to the iPhone 17 series. This means it will not have a display notch like the iPhone 16e.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17e is expected to be powered by the Apple A17 chip, which also runs the standard iPhone 17. However, the 17e is said to use an underclocked version of the chipset, which should not pose any issues for everyday usage.
As per other reports, the iPhone 17e will come with an upgraded 18MP front camera with Center Stage support. In addition to face tracking and automatically expanding the frame to include a second person, it will allow users to take selfies in both landscape and portrait orientations without rotating the phone. It is expected to retain the iPhone 16e’s 48MP rear-facing camera.
While the iPhone 16e only supports Qi wireless charging, the iPhone 17e is said to offer MagSafe support with around 15W wireless charging. The tipster also claims that trial production of the device has already begun, indicating that mass production could start soon.
iPhone 17e price (expected)
At present, there are no concrete rumours regarding the pricing of the iPhone 17e. To recall, the iPhone 16e was launched at Rs 59,600. It remains to be seen whether the successor retains the same pricing or sees a slight increase, in line with recent trends driven by rising RAM and chipset costs.
