Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone has once again surfaced in leaks, but this time the focus is not just on hardware or launch timeline. New information hints at a possible naming shift that could redefine how Apple positions its first foldable device in the premium segment.
Apple foldable iPhone name could be iPhone Ultra
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Apple’s first foldable iPhone may be branded as the iPhone Ultra instead of following a conventional Fold naming approach. This suggests Apple could position the device above its Pro models, aligning it with its most premium offerings.
The leak further suggests that other smartphone brands in China are also considering adopting the Ultra branding for their upcoming foldable devices. This could lead to a broader trend where foldables are marketed as top-tier products rather than niche innovations.
A Bloomberg report states that Apple is still on track to introduce its foldable iPhone in September, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. While production timelines are not fully locked, the company is said to be working towards a launch window similar to its regular iPhone releases.
iPhone Fold specs, price (rumoured)
The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 5.3-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner folding screen, offering a larger canvas for media and productivity tasks. It could be powered by Apple’s next-generation A20 chip, paired with 12GB RAM and a new C2 modem for improved connectivity.
In terms of cameras, the device may include dual 48MP rear sensors, while the front camera could be an 18MP unit. Although battery details remain unclear, the overall focus appears to be on delivering a refined foldable experience with better durability and display quality.
Pricing is expected to cross $2,000, which roughly translates to over Rs 1,65,000, placing it firmly in the ultra-premium category.
