Apple’s new Games app is finally here

Apple has officially launched Apple Games, its new dedicated gaming hub. It’s now available for Mac and any device running the just-released iOS 26. First unveiled at WWDC back in June, the app has now gone live for compatible iPhones, iPads, and Macs after a period of public beta testing.

Some much-needed features and one fun surprise

Apple Games’ entire purpose is to be a single, personalised destination for every game you have downloaded across the Apple ecosystem. It combines the Games and Arcade sections of the App Store into one slick package.

The Home tab presents a carousel of in-game activities, a ‘Continue Playing’ bar, and widgets for Apple Arcade suggestions and what your friends are playing.

But the coolest bit is the Library tab. It not only lists your installed games but also shows every single game you have ever downloaded, including titles that have been delisted for years. You can scroll to the very bottom to discover your first-ever downloads.

The app also brings some new social tools through a Friends tab. You can create custom challenges in games that support Game Center, like perhaps setting up a high score battle in Subway Surfers for your mates, complete with time limits and a set number of tries.

The Mac version gets a special superpower too. It acts as a universal games launcher, pulling in titles from the App Store, Steam, GOG, and anywhere else on your machine. All in all, the app signals that the company’s slow push into gaming is still very much alive.
