New plan to sit between Plus and Pro

ChatGPT Pro Lite subscription plan could be in works, read expected price, features

A new subscription tier for ChatGPT may be on the horizon, according to recent discoveries in the platform’s frontend code. Early findings hint at a plan called ChatGPT Pro Lite, suggesting OpenAI could be preparing to expand its pricing lineup with a middle-ground option.

ChatGPT Pro Lite leak hints at new mid-tier subscription

The reported Pro Lite plan was first identified by AI reverse engineer Tibor Blaho, who found references to the subscription within the web app’s code. While not officially confirmed, the leaked strings indicate a possible price of $100 per month, which is roughly Rs 9,100 depending on exchange rates.

This would place the new plan between the existing ChatGPT Plus tier at $20 and the higher-end ChatGPT Pro subscription priced at $200. In India, these plans are priced at Rs 1,999 and Rs 19,900. There’s also a Rs 399-priced ChatGPT Go plan, which sits above the Free plan.

The discovery suggests that OpenAI may be addressing a noticeable gap in its current pricing structure. Many users find the jump from Plus to Pro significant, especially those who require more frequent access to advanced models or higher usage quotas but do not need the full capabilities of the Pro tier. A mid-range plan could attract freelancers, developers, researchers, and heavy users seeking better value.

Expected features and positioning

Code references hint that ChatGPT Pro Lite could offer three to five times higher usage limits compared to the Plus plan, particularly for deep reasoning or high-compute models. A parameter related to reasoning capacity indicates that expanded quotas for complex tasks may be part of the offering.

Some reports also suggest support for advanced features such as priority Codex access, enhanced voice capabilities, and expanded media generation limits, although these details remain unverified. OpenAI has not publicly announced the plan, and pricing or features may change before launch.

However, the move aligns with broader industry trends, as competitors are introducing intermediate subscription tiers to balance affordability and performance. If introduced, Pro Lite could become an attractive upgrade path for users who frequently hit existing limits while remaining more accessible than the premium Pro offering.
