We are in the season of game adaptations, and the latest entrant into this space is Clash of Clans. The uber popular mobile games Clash of Clans and Clash Royale are now coming to Netflix as an animated series.
According to Netflix, this upcoming animated series is about an “in-over-his-head Barbarian who must rally a band of misfits to defend their village and navigate the comically absurd politics of war.”
The series will be helmed by Fletcher Moules, who has directed several Clash of Clan animated series, which have racked up millions of views on the game’s YouTube channel. He will be aided by writer Ron Weiner whose portfolio includes hits like 30 Rock and Silicon Valley, Futurama, and Arrested Development.
“Working with the incredible team at Supercell, Fletcher Moules, and Ron Weiner, we’re bringing all the fun, chaos, and spirit of the world of Clash to life in a whole new way,” says John Derderian, Vice President of Animation Series at Netflix. We can’t wait for fans — old and new — to experience the mayhem.”
Developers Supercell launched Clash of Clans back in 2012, followed by Clash Royale in 2016. Since launch, the games have been wildly popular having garnered over four billion downloads and over 180 billion hours of gameplay.

Video game adaptations are on a rise lately. Unlike the earlier years, recent adaptions like The Last of Us and Fallout are seeing both critical and commercial success. Netflix itself has a few great adaptions in its kitty, including the likes of Arcane: A League of Legends Story and Castlevania.
At the time of filing this story, all Netflix has revealed that the animated series is in pre-production. There’s currently no word yet on a release date.
