Garmin has announced a fresh update to its specialist wearables portfolio, introducing a new variant of its tactical smartwatch along with additions to its golf lineup. The highlight of this update is the tactix 8 Cerakote Edition, which brings a revised exterior finish. The brand has also broadened its reach with a junior-focused golf watch and an updated handheld golf device.
Garmin tactix 8 Cerakote Edition: Built with ceramic-grade toughness
The tactix 8 Cerakote Edition stands out due to its ceramic-polymer Cerakote coating, a finish commonly used in industrial and military applications. The coating is sprayed and heat-cured onto the titanium bezel, improving resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and chemicals.
Garmin notes that the surface is designed to age naturally, developing a unique appearance based on usage rather than remaining visually pristine.
Familiar internals with tactical-grade hardware
Beyond the exterior, the smartwatch retains the same core hardware as the standard tactix 8, which debuted in February 2025. It features a 1.4-inch AMOLED display protected by a sapphire lens, housed in a 51mm case, and includes a built-in LED flashlight for low-light conditions. Battery life extends up to 29 days in smartwatch mode, making it suitable for extended outdoor and tactical use.
The device includes Garmin’s full suite of tactical tools, such as rucking and jumpmaster modes, dual-format GPS coordinates, Stealth Mode, night vision compatibility, and an Applied Ballistics Ultralight solver for precision calculations. It also supports scuba and apnea diving up to 40 metres, structured training plans, real-time stamina tracking, and continuous health monitoring.
It comes with navigation features, such as TopoActive maps, global golf and ski maps, aviation tools, and multi-band GPS with SatIQ. Smart features such as call handling, notifications, and Garmin Pay are available when paired with a smartphone.
Garmin tactix 8 Cerakote Edition: Price and availability
The Garmin tactix 8 Cerakote Edition is priced internationally at $1,599 (~Rs 1,46,300) and is available in Slate Grey and Olive Dab finishes. There’s no clarity whether this smartwatch will make it to the Indian market.
