Ghost of Yotei Legends brings supernatural co-op battles

The world of Ghost of Yotei is expanding beyond its single-player adventure with a new multiplayer experience. Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have introduced Ghost of Yotei Legends, a free online co-op mode that extends the base game’s combat and storytelling. The update lets players revisit the world to face supernatural threats alongside friends.

Co-op missions and supernatural bosses

Ghost of Yotei Legends has launched as a free update for PlayStation 5 owners. The mode reimagines main story elements in a mythological context, transforming the Yotei Six warlords into supernatural foes. Players face towering demonic bosses and their themed followers instead of regular humans.

Each boss commands a unique faction, bringing variety to fights. For example, the Kitsune faction features the Snow Woman, an elite enemy with frost-based attacks, while another includes summoners that call in extra foes mid-battle. These team-focused encounters emphasize coordination over solo play.

The mode offers four playable classes: Samurai (Odachi sword), Archer (Yari), Mercenary (dual katanas), and Shinobi (Kusarigama). Each has a distinct weapon preference, unique ability tree, and progression system to unlock new skills and gear over time.

Multiple mission types and progression systems

Ghost of Yotei Legends features various co-op mission formats. Two-player story missions deliver narrated legends tied to the bosses. Four-player Incursion missions send teams into enemy domains to fight waves before facing major bosses.

The Survival mode tasks four players with defending areas against enemy waves. Teams can activate blessings for perks like spirit allies, but losing control risks curses that spawn new dangers.

Sucker Punch has confirmed a future Raid mode, where four players must tightly coordinate to take down two additional bosses, representing the mode’s greatest challenge.
