In a major development in India’s gaming space, Sony could finally release the PlayStation 5 Pro in the country. The console had debuted globally in late 2024 but did not arrive in India due to regulatory hurdles. The pro model is significantly ugraded compared to the PS5 Slim and standard PS5 with the latter dating back to 2020.
PS5 Pro may finally arrive in India
According to a tipster, the Sony PS5 Pro has been spotted on the Bureau of India (BIS) certification website. This is a mandatory step for most devices to be released in the country. The console is listed with a model number CFI-7121 and it corresponds to the 2025 hardware version of the original PS5 Pro.
The PlayStation 5 Pro supports WiFi-7 connectivity by using the 6GHz wireless band. India had not approved the spectrum band when the console launched in 2024. This restricted Sony to sell any PS5 Pro units in the country. Now, India is reportedly opening parts of 6GHz spectrum for Wi-Fi.

It’s worth noting that Sony hasn’t confirmed the launch of the PS5 Pro in India yet. But with the regulatory clearance, the arrival of the console seems very much on the cards now. There are some PS5 Pro units already selling on Flipkart and offline retailers in the country. But those are imported versions and lack a universal warranty.
Gamers in India have been eagerly waiting for the PS5 Pro as it packs hardware upgrades over the Slim edition. It has a significantly powerful GPU, enhanced ray tracing, AI upscaling, and a 2TB SSD which is double the storage of the PS5 Slim. The PS5 Pro released at a price tag of $699 (roughly Rs 64,413) and got hiked to $749 (roughly Rs 69,000).
