Google’s March Pixel Drop adds Gemini task automation, smarter Circle to Search

Google has announced its March Pixel Drop, introducing a range of new AI and personalisation features for Pixel devices. The update expands Gemini’s capabilities, improves Circle to Search, and adds smarter contextual tools across Pixel phones and Pixel Watch models.

March Pixel Drop features revealed

One of the biggest additions in this update is an experimental Gemini capability that allows the assistant to complete tasks on a user’s behalf inside supported apps. Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL users can ask Gemini to handle everyday activities such as ordering groceries, booking a ride, or repeating a previous food delivery order.

The assistant works in the background while the user continues using their phone, though tasks can still be monitored or stopped if needed. Circle to Search is also receiving a major upgrade focused on fashion discovery. Pixel 10 users can now circle an entire outfit on their screen and Google will identify the different pieces within it.

Instead of showing a single search result, the feature can separate clothing items such as coats, shoes, or accessories and show related results for each. Google has also added a virtual “Try It On” option that allows users to preview how selected products might look using their own photo or a model.

Another change arrives through Magic Cue, a feature designed to offer suggestions based on the context of conversations. For instance, when chatting with friends about where to eat, Magic Cue can recommend restaurants directly within the conversation by opening Gemini results without forcing users to leave the chat.

Pixel Watch gains new safety tools

The March update also brings improvements to Pixel Watch models. The watch can now alert users if they accidentally leave their Pixel phone behind and will automatically lock the phone once it moves out of Bluetooth range. Faster identity verification between the watch and phone has also been added.

Google is expanding gesture controls as well. One-handed gestures first introduced on Pixel Watch 4 are now coming to Pixel Watch 3, allowing users to answer calls, control music, or trigger certain actions by pinching fingers or rotating the wrist.

Additional safety and convenience features are included in the update. Pixel Watch will now support earthquake alerts, while Satellite SOS is expanding to more regions, including Europe and Canada. Google is also introducing Express Pay, enabling users to make NFC payments simply by tapping the watch to a payment reader without opening the wallet app first.
