Last year, Honor unveiled the Honor Power, a mid-range phone powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset and an 8,000mAh battery. Today, the brand has taken the covers off its successor, the Honor Power 2, which not only packs a more powerful Dimensity 8500 Elite chipset but also houses an even bigger battery. Here’s a closer look at everything the Power 2 has to offer.
Honor Power 2: Specs and features
Right off the bat, the Honor Power 2 features an impressive 6.79-inch LTPS OLED display that supports a 1.5K resolution, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 8,000 nits. The phone comes preinstalled with Android 16, layered with MagicOS 10 on top.
The Power 2 is the world’s first smartphone to feature the all-new Dimensity 8500 Elite chipset. Built on a 4nm process, the chip promises strong performance for a mid-range phone. The device also features LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
Unsurprisingly, the biggest highlight of the Honor Power 2 is its massive 10,080mAh battery, which is slightly larger than the 10,000mAh battery found in the gaming-focused Honor Win and Win RT that debuted recently. Thankfully, the Power 2 supports 80W wired charging and 27W reverse charging for topping up other devices.
For photography, the Honor Power 2 features an OIS-enabled 50MP main camera paired with a 5MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, it houses a 16MP camera for selfies and video calls. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, IR blaster, NFC, Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 6, and a USB-C port. The handset also carries IP66/68/69/69K ratings for comprehensive dust and water resistance.
Honor Power 2: Price and availability
The Honor Power 2 has launched in China in two variants: 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB. These are priced at CNY 2,699 (around Rs 34,850) and CNY 2,999 (around Rs 38,720), respectively. It is available in Phantom Black, Snow White, and Rising Sun Orange colour options.
At present, there is no clarity on whether the device will be released outside China. Going by the previous generation, which was confined to the home market, the chances of a global rollout appear slim.
