How to transfer contacts from an Android phone to an iPhone

Nearly a week after it was launched, one can now pre-order the new iPhone 15. If you already have pre-ordered your new iPhone though, it might be time to start prepping to transfer your data from your older device. More so, if you happen to use an Android device.

Transferring data, particularly contacts, has often been a hassle for users switching from an Android to an iOS device in the past. So, here’s a guide on how to do the same quickly and easily.

Transferring phone contacts from Android to iOS

Here are a few quick and easy ways to transfer phone contacts from your Android device to your new iPhone.

1. Store contacts on your SIM

The easiest way to go about transferring contacts between your devices is to simply make sure all your contacts are stored on your SIM rather than your phone memory. For the same, open the Contact app on your Android device, and head to Menu.

Next, tap on ‘import’ and select your SIM card. Now, once you have your new iPhone and have inserted your SIM into it, go to Settings, and ‘contacts’. Select the option that says, ‘import SIM contacts,’ follow the on-screen instructions, and you’re all set.

2. Use the Move to iOS app

The second way one can transfer phone contacts from their Android device to their new iPhone is using the “Move to iOS” app. Download and install the app on your Android device. Once launched, grab your new iPhone and turn it on. Follow the prompts on the screen and connect to Wi-Fi.

On the “Apps & Data” step, choose “Move Data from Android”. Note the code displayed on your iPhone. Open the “Move to iOS” app on your Android device, and enter the code, once asked. Now, simply choose the data you want to transfer to your new iPhone, and that’s it.

3. Sync your contacts via Google

One can also sync their contacts using their Google account and store them in the cloud. This way, they can access them on any device, wherein they sign in through their Google account. To sync contacts to your iPhone this way, head to Settings on your Android device, and to ‘Accounts’ from there. Over here, select ‘Google’ and then tap on ‘Sync’. Make sure the option for ‘Sync Contacts’ is enabled on your Android device.

Now, open the settings app on your iPhone, and tap on ‘Contacts.’ From there, tap on ‘Add account’, or if you’ve already synced your Google account to your iPhone, select ‘Accounts.’ Now, choose the Google services and apps you’d like to sync with your iPhone, and then tap on ‘Save.’ Once you open the contacts app on your iPhone, you should start to see your contacts automatically appear.

Well, there’s a quick and easy rundown to help you get started with using your new iPhone. We hope this helps.
