The iPhone 15 packed a punch with its features that were introduced to take user experience up a notch. And, of course, if you’re using the iPhone 15 Pro series, you also have the Action button to quickly jump into a lot of its functions. The handy shortcut button present on the side, can help you customise it with an ‘action’ or task that you want easy access to.

This could include switching on a flashlight, taking voice memos or simply activating Siri to do it for you. However, what if we tell you that you can swap Siri with ChatGPT’s voice prompts for text and image-based search results? Here’s how you can go about it:

How to swap Siri with ChatGPT on your iPhone 15

You no longer have to rely on Siri to get answers to your life’s queries. OpenAI’s ChatGPT has rolled out a recent update, titled ‘Whisper’, that uses voice prompts with its GPT-4 Large Language Model (LLM) to fetch answers in an audio format. However, if you’re wondering how to harness this feature with the action button on your iPhone 15, there are a few simple steps to help you get started.

Step 1: Within the iOS Settings menu, look for the Action Button option
Step 2: Once you’re in, swipe to the Shortcuts option mentioned at the end
Step 3: After tapping the blue button, go through a list of apps installed on your iPhone to find ChatGPT
Step 4: On doing this, you will be led to tap the existing shortcut option and replace it with ‘Start a voice conversation’

Once you’re done configuring it on your Action button, you can press it and begin communicating with your voice prompts to ChatGPT. However, it is crucial to note that this will only work if you have the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.

What can you do with ChatGPT assistance?

For one, you will be able to pick between five different voices — including Ember, Sky, Breeze, Juniper and Cove — who will help you get answers to your queries. But while it can comprehend different voice modulations, tones and accents with little to no effort, it can’t perform functions such as placing a phone call, making a calendar appointment or controlling your smart home hub.

And if you’re looking for something a little more specific, several third-party apps allow you to add various other shortcuts to the action button.
