The Selfix case from Dockcase, designed for the iPhone 17 Pro, has drawn attention for offering something unusual. It adds a secondary display on the back of the phone, creating a new approach to photography and usability. Continue reading ahead to learn more about this unique iPhone accessory.
Selfix case with rear display
The Selfix case for the iPhone 17 Pro features a circular 1.6-inch AMOLED touch screen on the back with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. This display acts as a live preview when using the rear-facing 48MP cameras for selfies, allowing users to take advantage of the main sensors for clearer photos, better wide-angle shots and improved framing.
Dockcase claims the screen responds instantly and does not require any additional apps, making the setup straightforward. The display is also designed to help with low-light selfies and real-time adjustments when switching between the ultra-wide and zoom cameras.
Beyond visual framing, the case integrates a PD 3.0 USB-C port that supports up to 100W input, along with a dedicated power button to control the rear display.
One of its more unusual additions is a microSD card slot with support for up to 2TB storage, letting users store extra photos and videos directly in the iPhone’s library. This feature effectively turns the case into an expansion hub, increasing storage flexibility without interfering with normal phone functions.
So, what’s the catch?
The Selfix case is expected to launch soon on Kickstarter, where Dockcase plans to reveal pricing and availability details. It will come in Blush Pink, Oat White and Midnight Black colour options.
While the concept is genuinely intriguing, the catch lies in its practicality. Dockcase is not a widely recognised name in the smartphone case market, and the Selfix is still tied to a Kickstarter launch, which naturally raises questions about long-term support, durability and reliability.

The added hardware also introduces extra bulk, and features such as external storage and a secondary screen may depend heavily on consistent iOS compatibility. It is an ambitious idea, but one that will need real-world testing to prove its viability.
