Arriving with performance boost

Nothing Phone (4a)’s Geekbench listing reveals an upgraded Snapdragon 7-series chip

Nothing is expected to announce the Phone (4a) series in March globally, including India. In the absence of the Phone (4) flagship this year, the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro are expected to offer some flagship-class specifications at an affordable price. The rumour mill has not revealed anything significant about these phones so far, but a recent Geekbench AI listing has now revealed the chipset powering the Phone (4a).

Nothing Phone (4a) to offer chipset upgrade

The Nothing Phone (4a), which bears the model number A069, has surfaced in Geekbench’s database. The technical details available in the listing reveal that it is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset.

This marks an upgrade, as last year’s Phone (3a) featured the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. However, readers should note that the 7s Gen 4 is a modest speed upgrade over its predecessor. While raw performance gains may be limited, users are likely to experience improved thermal stability and slightly snappier responsiveness during everyday tasks such as web browsing.

The Geekbench AI listing further reveals that the device is equipped with 12GB of RAM and runs on Android 16. As for the AI scores recorded on the benchmarking platform, the figures suggest a capable mid-range performance profile with a focus on on-device machine learning tasks and AI acceleration.

At present, other details of the Nothing Phone (4a) remain under wraps. However, it is likely to feature upgraded UFS 3.1 storage, which promises faster read and write speeds for quicker app launches and smoother file transfers. The device is also expected to arrive in multiple shades, including black, white, blue, and pink.

Nothing Headphone (a) in works

Nothing is also reportedly working on the Headphone (a), an affordable version of the existing Headphone (1) over-ear headphones. This device is expected to launch globally on March 12. It remains to be seen whether the Phone (4a) lineup and Headphone (a) will debut at the same event.
