Next OnePlus flagship may feature a 240Hz display

OnePlus is gearing up to launch the all-new OnePlus 15 in India, and it’s all set to bring a faster 165Hz display for gaming and smooth scrolling. That’s the fastest screen in any OnePlus yet, but that’s about to change, as the brand is reportedly working on another gaming-ready phone with an even faster 240Hz refresh rate screen. Intrigued? Ultra-fast screen, but likely with a trade off

While the 240Hz gaming-ready phone may support high refresh rate gaming and smoother scrolling, it may have a trade-off, and it could very well be with the resolution. Notably, the OnePlus 15 has the fastest display in a OnePlus yet, but it doesn’t get a 2K resolution like the predecessor, the OnePlus 13. Rather, it gets a 1.5K resolution panel, which is still sharp, but not as crisp as a 2K panel.

Having said that, the upcoming OnePlus phone with a 240Hz display might as well have a lower resolution. It’s unclear, however, if it will be a flagship device or a mid-range device. Based on that, we can speculate whether it gets a 1080p resolution screen or a 1.5K resolution display.

A 240Hz display is future-proof, but it’s still a bit overkill for now, since not many apps can take advantage of it. Even 165Hz on the OnePlus 15 will be supported by select games, rest of the apps will still refresh at around 120Hz.

OnePlus is yet to reveal the key features of this phone, which means we’ll have a wait a little longer to know more about its hardware. Until then, you can wait for the OnePlus 15 in India, which is launching on November 13.
